AAA 1-27-11 Toluca Review

AAA 1-27-11 Toluca Review

El Zorro cuts a promo talking about what it's like to be the Megacampeón. Dr. Wagner Jr. then cuts a promo and says he wants to get the respect he deserves.

1. Gato Eveready, Atomic Boy, Fenix vs. Tigre Cota, Black Dragon, Tito Santana

Atomic Boy and Black Dragon start out and Dragon gets armdragged to the floor and Atomic Boy fakes a dive. Tige Cota and Gato trade holds and Gato hits an awesome headscissors before getting missile dropickicked by Tito. Double team but Gato fights back with a headscissors and then a dropkick to knock both of them out and fakes a dive of his own. Fenix and Dragon in now and Fenix does a pretty cool back handspring into a pele kick. They criss cross the ropes and Dragon throws him up for a back body drop and then goes for a desnucadora out of the air but doesn't catch him and Fenix lands hilariously right on his ass. The rudos take over and go three on one on each of the técnicos until Atomic Boy and Fenix jump back in the ring and take over with the advantage of their own. Fenix hits a death valley driver on Tigre followed by a springboard inverted senton on Tigre by Atomic Boy as Gato hits a really fast spinning DDT on Dragon and they send all three of the rudos to the floor. Atomic Boy and Dragon face off and Atomic hits a few very nice headscissors in a row and sends Dragon to the floor and then hits an suicida moonsault. Gato and Tito in now and Gato sends him to the outside with a headscissors and then hits an insane suicide tornillo followed by Fenix hitting a running suicida moonsault. Inside the ring, Atomic Boy and Black Dragon criss cross the ropes and Atomic Boy does a handspring off the ropes and then hits a victory roll on Dragon for the three count. Awesome opening match and the dive sequence at the end was worth watching a few times, Gato Eveready (now Drago in AAA) is one of the best flyers around these days and makes it look really easy out there.

2. El Apache, Faby Apache, Pimpinela vs. Billy Boy, Sexi Star, Yuriko

The Antonio Peña special, luchador/luchadora/exótico vs. luchador/luchadora/exótico. Tirantes Jr. is the ref so you can pretty much guess how this one goes, with the rudos representing Dorian Roldan's group La Sociedad (of which Tirantes is a member). El Apache starts with Billy and they go back and forth for a while, with El Apache showing that he can definitely still keep up, hitting a springboard moonsault and a diving armdrag off the top. Pimpi and Yuriko in now and the crowd chants for Pimpi as the two of them slap each other around and Pimpi hits a headscissors off the top sending Yuriko to the floor and then Billy Boy jumps in and clotheslines him down. Pimpi does the rope walk armdrag to Billy and then kisses him on the lips which makes the crowd go literally insane with joy. Sexi Star and Faby in now and they criss cross the ropes a few times with Faby getting the better of her with a couple of armdrags that sends her to the floor until Billy jumps in and takes her down by the hair. The crowd chants Faby's name as Billy works her over and she fires back with a headscissors but the rudos jump in and take over while Tirantes is conveniently distracted by the crowd. Three on one on each of the técnicos now and we go to commercial as they each get beat down. Back from commercial as the técnicos start to fight back and they go after Tirantes but the rudos take them on before they get to him. They all brawl around for a bit until it ends up with Sexi and Pimpinela who gives her a drop toe hold and puts her in a quebradora but Yuriko jumps in with a Michinoku driver on Pimpi. Faby goes after Yuriko and rolls her up but Sexi interferes and breaks it up. Pimpi off the top with a dropkick to Yuriko and then Billy gets his huracanrana reversed into a rollup and Apache has the cover but Tirantes fakes a knee injury after counting two and Billy then rolls up Apache and Tirantes counts a fast three to let the rudos win. Tirantes and the rudos escape as Apache runs after them up the aisle.

They show the groups for Rey de Reyes. Group 1 has Joe Lider, Cuervo, Chessman, and Extreme Tiger. Group 2 has Electroshock, Aerostar, El Mesias, and Superfly. Group 3 has L.A. Park, Halloween, Dr. Wagner Jr., and Nicho, and the final group, Group 4 has Jack Evans, Carlito, Ozz, and Decnis.

La Milicia walks to the ring with Konnan who gets on the mic and tells the fans to get on their feet and welcome the new Megacampeón de AAA, El Zorro, who comes out with a kendo stick. Zorro and Konnan talk about a prophecy by Zorro where he said that a dictator in AAA would fall, saying that it wouldn't be Konnan because he is not a dictator, he is a hero. Konnan calls out Wagner and Mesías and says that Chessman and Zorro will take them on tonight and beat them.

3. Aerostar and Octagon vs. Super Fly and Chris Stone (La Milicia)

Super Fly comes out with a cane, wearing a red headband and belt like Octagon and hobbling around like a withered old man making fun of him. Octagon jumps him at the start and breaks the cane over his knee, putting an end to his high-larious comedy act. Aerostar tags in and backflips into the ring to face off with Stone, who is wisely wearing a bullet proof vest because A: he is in La Milicia but more importantly B: you never know when your opponent might shoot you with a gun in the chest or back. Springboard into a wheelbarrow then an armdrag by Aerostar sends Stone out and Fly jumps in. Beautiful spinning headscissors by Aerostar sends Fly out too and Aerostar slides out after them. Octagon and Fly in the ring now and are brawling and ripping at each other's masks as the hate between the two continues to grow. Milicia goes 2 on 1 on Aerostar who gets tossed incredibly high in the air with a flapjack and lands right on his chest. Some clipping here, and Aerostar is then on the apron where he jumps in with a springboard missile dropkick and then hits a moonsault suicida on Stone. Fly and Octagon brawl on the outside now and Fly tries to retreat but the rest of La Milicia attack the ring and beat down the técnicos and get DQed. Quick match here that was clipped so not a whole lot to see.

We see Charly Manson talking on his cell phone backstage with somebody, then the announcers go over the groupings for Rey de Reyes again.

4. Psycho Circus (Psycho Clown, Monster Clown, Murder Clown) vs. Los Bizarros (Amadeus, Charly Manson, Escoria)

Both teams start out brawling in and out of the ring. The Bizarros beat down Monster Clown and then continue the beatdown on Murder Clown with Escoria coming off the top with a legdrop. Amadeus wears a plastic black mask and a long white wig and will probably haunt me in my nightmares. Los Bizarros clear the ring of all the clowns and then the big Murder Clown tries to fight back but gets beat down as well as the show goes to commercial. We return and Escoria runs at Murder in the corner but Murder throws him over his head to the floor and the two other Clowns take out the Bizarros with stereo dropkicks. Amadeus gets sent into the corner and clotheslined by Psycho, then gets a drop toe hold from Monster and a leg drop from Murder. Psycho Circus continues the beat down on Bizarros and Monster holds Charly's legs and then Murder leapfrogs over his back with a huge legdrop. The referee manages to clear the ring for once and it's Euforia and Monster in the ring and Euforia kicks him in the corner. They fight to the apron and Euforia goes for a springboard huracanrana from one side of the apron to the outer but there is some miscommunication and Monster does his bump off the apron about a second after Euforia twists for the huracanrana. Charly sprints in and hits a running tope suicida and lands on his feet. Murder in with Amadaeus and throws him up with a huge gorilla press. Murder Clown goes up top and hits an elbow drop and covers Amadeus for the three count. Bit of a sloppy match that served mainly to put over the Psycho Circus. Zorro's music hits afterwards and he comes out and yells at Charly. Charly gets on the microphone and tells Zorro that he is his worst nightmare.

Backstage, Konnan and Dorian sit in the locker room and discuss their problems with La Parka as the Rocky theme plays in the background.

5. Chessman and Zorro vs. Dr. Wagner Jr. and El Mesías

Our Lucha Estelar of the night and Hijo del Tirantes is the referee. Chessman starts with Mesías on the inside as Zorro and Wagner brawl on the outside. Konnan jumps in immediately and beats down Mesías in the corner with Chessman. Both rudos have their opponnents down on the mat in chinlocks as Konnan and Tirantes look on and the fans boo and chant for Wagner. Mesías hits the ropes and gets double shoulder blocked and then gets thrown off the ropes again into a double superkick. Zorro takes his kendo stick and sends Wagner into the ropes followed by repeated shots to the stomach and back of Wagner with the stick. Chessman tries to hit the ropes but Mesïas trips him up and hits a plancha suicida on Zorro as Wagner hits a running tope con giro off the apron. Wagner catches Chessman and Zorro in the ring with the kendo stick and they beg for mercy and run off. Tirantes takes the stick from Wagner and pushes him in the chest so Wagner kicks him in the calf and Tirantes falls head over heels. Both teams regroup as the show goes to commercial. We return and Mesías faces off with Chessman in the ring. They criss-cross the ropes and Mesías tries to monkey flip him but Chessman just kicks him in the face like a boss. Big powerslam by Mesías to a running Chessman but Zorro breaks up the pin count after Tirantes doesn't count the pin and goes to work. Chops in the corner by Zorro on Mesías and the crowd is getting pretty restless, a lot of them do not like Zorro at all. The crowd starts to loudly chant for Mesías and he hulks up and backdrops Zorro over his head then criss-crosses the ropes, ducks a superkick and hits Zorro with a backcracker. Chessman breaks up the pin and then faces off with Wagner in the ring. Wagner knocks Chessman down with another big kick to the calf but Tirantes the necio refuses to count because he acts like he hears someone in the crowd or something. Quebradora by Chessman who poses as the crowd boos. Another quebradora attempt but Wagner flips out and Chessman superkicks him out of the ring and then lands on him with a plancha. Mesías and Zorro again and they trade punches in the ring. Mesías drops the incoming Chessman with a spinebuster and then drops Zorro with one followed by a punch to the face of Konnan who sells it hilariously by throwing his baseball bat at least 12 feet in the air. Mesías grabs the bat and prepares to knock Konnan silly but that provides just enough of a distraction for Zorro to catch him from behind, flip him around and hit the superkick to pin him for a fast three count from Hijo del Tirantes. Pretty fun match with the usual guys although Zorro looked like he was in some pain here, probably the second best match of the night next to (ironically) the first match of the show. Afterwards, Charly's music hits and he runs out holding Cibernetico's old mask and fights off the rudos. Mesías sends Konnan down with two punches to the face as the fans pelt the ring with garbage. Wagner and Charly hit a wish bone on Konnan and send him packing as the three pose in the ring.

Wagner gets on the microphone and cuts a promo about AAA and Antonio Peña with Marisela Peña sitting in the front row holding Antonio Peña's ashes.

Afterwards, a highlight video of the show airs wrapping up all of the angles.

Jeff Lynch Lucha DVD Tape 1B Review

Jeff Lynch Mexico Tape #1 Part B (Sept. 1983) Review

1. Sangre Chicana vs. MS1 – Cabellera vs. Cabellera

MS1 unfortunately passed away recently, but it was great to see him on these DVDs doing such awesome work. From what I’ve seen he was truly one of the best rudos and overall workers of his generation in Mexico. Before the match even begins, MS1 attacks Sangre outside of the ring and slams his head against the apron. Highly concerned women at ringside crowd around Sangre and attempt to help him as MS1 lays into him with stomps. Fans are throwing trash at MS1 already as the ref tries to hold him back. Finally he climbs in the ring to gloat to the fans as the match announcements are being made and we see Sangre Chicana is bleeding from the top of his head all the way down his chest. MS1 climbs back out and keeps beating on Sangre. The ref tries to hold him back but MS1 keeps managing to run around him like a cartoon character and kick Sangre before the ref pulls him away. Women flock Sangre on the floor and fan him with their jackets to revive him as MS1 continues the assault into the crowd as Sangre does an awesome job of selling like he’s really hurting badly. MS1 picks him up in a fireman’s carry and dumps him into the ring, then hits a bodyslam and comes off the top with a flying headbutt for a three count to win the first fall. Sangre falls out of the ring and more concerned women sitting ringside help him. One of them wipes the blood off of his face as he sits on his knees, looking battered and exhausted.

MS1 climbs out and boots him in the face then throws him in the ring to begin the second fall. The fans are loudly chanting CHI-CA-NA as MS1 celebrates in the ring and continues to beat on him. Chicana is still bleeding heavily as MS1 pulls him up again but Chicana nails him with a left hand and the crowd goes wild, then hits him with two more that knocks him out of the ring and hits a tope to the outside in a really great sequence and the fans are chanting his name again. Chicana crawls into the ring as the ref counts out MS1 on the outside and wins the second fall by countout, having his hand raised in the middle of the ring while he’s covered in blood as MS1 lay on the outside.

Sangre climbs outside to meet MS1 to begin the third fall and slams MS1’s head directly into the apron in the same fashion that MS1 slammed his head into the apron in the first fall. MS1 comes up and is gushing blood out of his forehead and now both of them are just covered in blood and start brawling in the middle of the ring. MS1 goes for a big right but Sangre ducks and hits a huge left that sends him down. They stagger to their feet as the fans continue to chant Chicana and MS1 knocks him out with a shoulder block and follows it up with a huge tope. They crawl back into the ring and MS1 makes the cover but only gets two and the two of them stagger to their feet again, covered in blood. MS1 goes for an inside cradle but Sangre kicks out at two again. Standing back splash by MS1 for another two count and then he sends Sangre down with a right hand and hits a butterfly suplex for another two count. The mat is just covered in blood at this point. Right hand sends Sangre out again and MS1 hits another huge tope but Sangre moves and MS1 flies into the chairs. Back in the ring, the two of them rise slowly to their feet and Sangre hits a dropkick and then connects on a tope suicida and the crowd roars. Inside, Sangre covers for a two count and they stand again and MS1 hits a bodyslam and goes up top. Another headbutt attempt but Sangre slides away and MS1 lands splat from high in the air in a sick spot, and Sangre covers for another two. They grapple to their feet and MS1 hits another bodyslam and goes up top. MS1 comes off the top with a senton but Sangre moves again and applies a stretch muffler and the crowd roars in approval as MS1 submits and loses his cabellera rubia to a very bloody Sangre Chicana as Sangre’s mom looks on in approval from the audience, smoking a cigarette. MS1 tries to run away after the bell but Sangre runs him down and hits him with another big left hand and then holds him down as they cut his hair in the ring and shave him bald. This was a really awesome match for a ton of reasons, especially the crowd reactions and the crazy brawling.

2. Sangre Chicana/La Fiera/Mocho Cota vs. Infernales (MS1/El Satanico/El Espectro Jr. II)

The first shot of the footage from this match is MS1 standing in the ring with a smug look on his face and a freshly shaved bald head, just an awesome shot. He’s also got quite a snazzy sequined jacket too. Infernales jump the tecnicos on the outside and beat on them before the match even begins, what a bunch of bad guys. They beat down Sangre three on one and the fans desperately chant his name to fight back but he gets dumped to the outside with the rest. Back in the ring and a three on one on Sangre until the others come to break it up but get beat down as well. Everyone brawls together around the ring and Satanico stomps down Sangre in the middle of the ring. Los Infernales clear the ring again and stand down the tecnicos as they make their way back to the apron. More brawling and the rudos continue to beat down the tecnicos, with Mocho getting held down and stomped until Fiera runs in and gets beat down as well. Mocho, wearing bright banana yellow trunks, gets held up by Espectro while MS1 stomps him and the refs try to pull them apart while Espectro bites him on the forehead and busts him open. MS1 holds him up and punches him right in the forehead a few more times to open up the cut and now Cota is bleeding a lot and gets tossed outside of the ring and Satanico follows in pursuit. Brawling continues and the tecnicos start t fight back as the rowd goes crazy. Sangre and Cota double team Espectro while Fiera throws MS1 into the ring post outside and the tecnicos take over. Inside, Cota locks Espectro in a submission, something like a tirabuzón with Espectro in the seated position, and he submits. MS1 jumps in and starts brawling with Fiera but gets sent out again and the rudos triple team Satanico. They hold him in a standing armlock and he submits and the tecnicos take the fall while the ref checks Cota’s cuts. The rudos continue to fight and pull Fiera out of the ring, MS1 tries to bulldog him into the ring post but Fiera pushes him into it. Crazy brawling now and Sangre and MS1 are facing off in the center of the ring and brawl to the outside. All six men keep brawling around the ring and Cota gets Espectro down and starts tearing at his mask and Fiera backdrops MS1 and he goes splat on the ringside mats. The tecnicos keep beating down the rudos in a big way , and Satanico jumps in the ring and kicks Fiera with a low blow for the foul and the tecnicos win. Lots of crazy brawling in this match and more blood for the crazy people. Afterwards, Cota rips off Espectro’s mask and celebrates with it as they help Sangre Chicana up who is selling the beating.

3. NWA Middleweight Championship: El Satanico (C) vs. Lizmark

Long stand-off to start the match with each man tentatively trying to lock up with one another. Finally they lock up and Satanico wrenches at a side headlock but Lizmark hits a takedown and then locks him in an STF and they exchange holds and then stand up after a few. Lizmark rolls out of a pin attempt and then does an awesome cartwheel into single leg takedown that someone should definitely steal and use today. They stand again and Satanico hits an arm drag and holds on an armbar and hits an over the head armdrag. Back up again, Satanico takes down Lizmark and goes for a leglock but he reverses it into a crossface. To their feet again and they lock up but Satanico hits a hip toss, then up again but Lizmark hits a big dropkick that sends Satanico into the ropes. They trade holds for a little bit then criss cross the ropes and Lizmark goes for a moonsault off the top. Satanico moves, but Lizmark lands on his feet and armdrags him. They criss cross again, Lizmark armdrags him again and then hits a butterfly suplex with a big slam and pins him for three to take the first fall.

Second fall begins and Lizmark hits a drop toe hold and a couple strikes to the back of the head of Satanico then a somersault neckbreaker. Reverse chinlock by Lizmark on Satanico but he gets his foot on the ropes. Satanico falls outside and regroups with his Segundo while Lizmark waits in the ring. Back inside goes Satanico and Lizmark hits the dreaded Martinete causing Satanico to flop around shaking like he’s paralyzed, then he hits another one and Satanico shakes and seizes again. Two dropkicks in a row by Lizmark followed by a headscissors attempt but Satanico reverses it into a powerbomb and gets a three count to take the second fall.

Third fall starts with Satanico charging at Lizmark in the corner but he moves and rolls Satanico up for a two. Abdominal stretch by Lizmark but Satanico hiptosses him, sprints off the ropes and hits a senton for two. They criss cross again and Lizmark hits two flying body blocks and covers for a two. They struggle to their feet and Lizmark rolls him up with a bridge for another two. Another rollup attempt by Satanico now and another kickout. Lizmark throws him into the corner and goes in but Satanico ducks and Lizmark goes out then hits a huge crossbody off the top for a big nearfall that gets the fans buzzing. Satanico goes for a big spear but Lizmark moves and Satanico spills to the floor, then Lizmark goes up top and hits a nice plancha on Satanico. Back inside, another flying body block by Lizmark gets a two count and the two of them are dead exhausted laying in the ring. Satanico locks up on a quebradora de caballo but Lizmark rolls through and covers Satanico for two as the fans begin to chant Lizmark’s name. Back up, two dropkicks by Lizmark and he locks on a surfboard then flips Satanico all the way over onto his shoulders and Satanico pins Lizmark’s shoulders down for the three count to retain the belt. These two had a great technical match though the finish was a little flat.

4. Halcon Ortiz vs. Cien Caras – Beginning only

The DVD footage only features the beginning of this match. Halcon starts out by doing a promo in his corner and he’s wearing the same banana yellow color trunks that Mocho Cota wore but he has a white cape as well, looking like quite the man. The two of them lock up and grapple all the way out of the ring and then get back in and lock up some more as the tape runs out.
